Finding Balance

As we move into the Fall season you may notice yourself feeling a bit off balance. The shifting weather and cooler temperatures bring us to notice changes we need to make in our life. In Chinese medicine, fall is considered a time of letting go and going inward. Think of the plants how they lay dormant for the winter. Mentally and emotionally, we find ourselves turning inward, we find ourselves a little more serious and less carefree than in summer. This is a time to take care of "you", to nurture yourself, and to meditate on your goals and the new directions you might like to take. Reach for the creative power of the Fall season to envision ways to turn your obstacles into opportunities.

Ashwagandha herb is a wonderful herb to help you become more grounded and balanced, helping you to move through transitional times in your life. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen herb. Adaptogen herbs help your body adapt to stress, support energy production in the body, and support healthy immune system function. Adaptogen herbs also help support your nervous system during times of stress, offering a calming and balancing energy. To me the energy of ashwagandha is both uplifting and grounding, making it a wonderful herb for creating mind-body balance.

“Regardless of how out of balance your body may become, it still retains the information necessary to return to balance. Learning to restore peaceful, healthy balance,

is one gift of the bridge to healing “

Joyce Whitley Hawkes, Ph.D., Cell Level Healing

You have trillions of cells in your body, more cells than the entire population of people on this earth. Within the cells lies the intelligence to repair and create matter. The spark of your creator lies within each cell. It is time to release limited beliefs and understanding and how the body heals and to embrace the infinite potential which resides within your cells.

Like a caterpillar dissolving within a cocoon, may you allow your mind to dissolve its limited belief patterns towards health and healing. And may you embrace the full potential for transformation and healing which resides within you.

The goal of the cells of your body is to create harmony and balance. Disease and illness are not the normal state of the body, rather a symptom of dis-harmony and imbalances. As the caretaker of your physical body, it is your responsibility to explore the reasons for these imbalances and correct them.

Creating balance and harmony in our life requires action on our part. Like the falling leaves from the trees, allow for a letting go of old, to make way for transformation and growth.

Take a moment right now to just “be with yourself” for a moment of self-reflection. Take a deep breath; relax your shoulders and body. Place your hand over your heart and breathe quietly, as you do this ask yourself the following questions…

What steps can I take to support my body’s innate wisdom to heal and repair?”

How have I been neglecting myself? What steps could I take to take better care of myself?

What aspects of my life are just distractions, keeping me from spending time with my true self?

What activities in my life make me feel like a hamster running on a wheel?

Are there areas in my life that have lost meaning and no longer excite me? What should I let go of?

What brings me pleasure and a sense of purpose? What would light the flame of passion in my life?

Take a moment to really dwell on these questions, don’t rush, the idea is to just connect with yourself again, you don’t have to have answers to the questions right now. The answers and guidance you seek will come to you as you continue a path of self-reflection, mindfulness, and self-care.
