Reflective Thoughts on a Winter Morning

There are so many sides to each of us, so many facets that can be polished and admired. Yet, we often get stuck highlighting just one angle of ourselves to the world. At times, holding on to this aspect of ourselves so tightly that we hold back our ability to grow and evolve.

In a recent conversation with my son, I discussed how I often find myself torn about defining what my business model should look like. My career as a Natural Health Consultant began 36 years ago—an interesting and challenging journey that has continuously pushed me to grow and expand my skills. Twenty-seven years ago, I recognized the need to develop my abilities as an Intuitive Health Coach, enabling me to work more effectively with clients by phone, most of whom I never meet in person. By tuning in with my intuition, I could help them discover the root causes of the challenges they faced. I have also enjoyed teaching them how to recognize and use their own intuitive skills to help guide them on their journeys through life. Over the past decade, I have also studied Energy Healing, Light Therapies, and Sound Healing, further enriching my practice. Rather than switching roles, I see this as adding depth and reach to my soul mission: inspiring others to empower themselves to heal and restore their health. How this unfolds and the forms it takes evolve as I continue to grow personally and professionally. It is always a joy to share the tools and knowledge I’ve gained to help others on their journey toward health.

I’m learning to be less judgmental of the paths I take in life and instead view each as an adventure, whether it lasts an hour, a day, or many years. I strive to embrace the freedom of knowing I can change my journey’s direction at any time—to follow a fork in the road or embark on an ambitious climb. I allow myself to release things, relationships, or aspects of myself that no longer serve me, creating space for something new. Life isn’t just about the physical realm we inhabit but also its multidimensional aspects. If we’re fortunate, we can find balance and live in both worlds. This is my hope for you as well.

I’m not particularly fond of the cold, but I do have a love for the winter season. I cherish the feeling of turning inward, embracing an inner hibernation during the winter months. I adore a cozy blanket, soft lighting, and a cup of warm cocoa while reading an engrossing book. I delight in watching birds from my window as they scratch and bounce among the leaves where I’ve scattered seeds. I marvel at the moonlight filtering through barren trees. Perhaps in another life, I embodied the essence of a black bear, sleeping deeply in hibernation, waiting for the sun’s warmth to announce spring—a life I admittedly envy.

During December and January, I like to reflect on the past year: the paths I followed, the goals I achieved, and the plans I left unfinished. On certain days, the cold, quiet landscape calls me outdoors, camera in hand, to capture the stillness of the season. As February approaches, my focus shifts toward the promise of spring, opening myself to new possibilities and fresh energy. When spring begins to whisper its arrival, I’m drawn back to nature, capturing the vibrant stirrings of life as it awakens once again.

I cherish the changing seasons, seeing in them a mirror of my own growth and renewal, each cycle bringing its own lessons and beauty. Perhaps you, too, can find inspiration in these seasonal rhythms. Take time to reflect on the chapters of your life, honor what you’ve experienced, and open your heart to the possibilities waiting to unfold.

May you enjoy life. Don’t let struggles and challenges weigh you down. Allow yourself to learn from them, and expand and grow. Cherish the small moments in life and seek to be present—for it is in the present moment that true peace resides.
